Any new information when #GNUSocial is going to support #ActivityPub? Just wondering...
@diogo Thank you for your explanation. Now I really see a page on the loadaverage site that tells its server version. And #AndStatus still successfully connects to the server (I'm writing to you using it).
This means that the authentication problem that I reported is caused by a configuration of a concrete server, and not by the latest version of #GnuSocial :-)

Using a chance to talk with you, I hope that you will find time for Client-to-Server #ActivityPub API also. I'm extending support of that API in AndStatus, and already see that not only #Pleroma, but even some #Mastodon sites begin to implement some parts of the API, allowing a Client app to request information directly from its sources, without a need to duplicate it. E.g. Notes by an Actor may be requested from the Actor's profile (from the Actor's outbox) at his site, and not from the server, at which the User of the Client app has an account...

On adding Group / List support to #AndStatus

Oh, I see that #GNUSocial development is going on: https://notabug.org/diogo/gnu-social
#ActivityPub Server-to-Server support is being added (and I saw a report that it was successfully tested some days ago...)

Moreover, looking into the source code I found the first-hand info about the system's API .
And although the code, related to Groups support, didn't change for the last six years :-) https://notabug.org/diogo/gnu-social/src/nightly/actions/apitimelinegroup.php , it works and I could actually retrieve the group's timeline at loadaverage.org

The unusual "!groupname" syntax to address a group is not a big problem...

So I'm moving on adding Group support to #AndStatus (whatever it will be actually...) https://loadaverage.org/attachment/5785458

> #ActivityPub supports Groups. I’m wondering if anyone has developed something like a mailing list for AP yet?
Yes, they do. I would rather say, they developed exactly a mailing list, which just like the original does not require any special support from the protocol: you just CC it — and a bot behind it reposts the message to all the list subscribers.

Here it is: @rf — managed by @drequivalent.
> I want to have a technical group ala a mailing list.
May I try to dissuade you from doing it? Do not divide the community, let this #fediverse, so far as those who created it, decided to make it an illustration to #XKCD927 [1], remain a place for posting anime girls, and leave technical talks where they belong to: in full-fledged #mailinglists / #newsgroups.

I want to have a technical group ala a mailing list.

Anyone know of anything like this yet?

А что там насчёт дополнения технологии подкастинга - в дополнение к #RSS - нашего дорогого новенького #ActivityPub?

#Mastodon уже может считаться подкаст-хостером, не?
@Betrayer @Omega9 @rf Продолжим тему 😀
Нашел недавно https://github.com/tsileo/microblog.pub A self-hosted, single-user, #ActivityPub powered #microblog.
Gab will join the Fediverse next month, and we at @forktogether want to be prepared.
ActivityPub is known to be leaky, so we'd like to take further measures than just suspending Gab's known domains by default.

If you know how exactly Mastodon's ActivityPub implementation leaks information, then we'd highly appreciate your input on this issue: https://github.com/florence-social/mastodon-fork/issues/108

I don't think many folks here in the English speaking side of the fedi know about #Juick (juick.com) but its another part of the #fediverse that is already federating. I just discovered that they are also open source and the code is all available at https://x.juick.com/Juick/ licensed under AGPLv3. #ActivityPub

GNU/Social will support ActivityPub via my plugin before Mastodon and Pleroma deprecate OStatus.

I look forward to helping modernize the GS code base this summer 😄

@forgefed Hello, we are very excited about your project! #forgeFed #activitypub
A year ago, the only person who knew the name of the project besides @dansup was @yabirgb the @anfora developer.

Some might see us as competitors, we see it differently.

Together Anfora and Pixelfed are working to build fediverse features like Federated Filters, Live Streaming and Stories.

It's better when you work together.

#fediverse #activityPub #federation #cooperation
Thank you to everyone who supported the project and spread the word.

I think 2019 will be the year of next generation fediverse projects like Anfora, Funkwhale, Go-Fed, PeerTube, Pixelfed, Plume, Prismo, Pterotype and WriteFreely. #activityPub #fediverse #federation
Started working on pixelfed exactly 1 year ago today! #pixelfed #activityPub
#ActivityPub ? Well, it’s not that bad
Implemented activity delivery for #ActivityPub-PHP! Just need to put in inbox forwarding and write tests for both and the library will have a complete AP implementation! Still lots of work to do after that, but I'm really excited to reach that milestone.
#ActivityPub question :mastodon:

I follow some locked accounts that are on other instances.

My instance's UI, as always, tells me that "Information below may reflect the user's profile incompletely." and suggests me to "View full profile" on the remote instance's own web UI. But since the account is locked and I'm not logged into the remote instance, the remote instance won't let me see its info.

So, is there any way to view the complete info, such as whom they follow?
Yay! Officially first #Mastodon -> #Socialhome follow :D Next: Returning an accept, then outbound follow towards the #ActivityPub side.
Ephemeral Posts are coming to :pixelfed:

We are working with Pleroma developers to ensure full support between Pixelfed and Pleroma!

@kaniini has created the LitePub extension, and we look forward to working with them on this new and exciting feature.

#activityPub #ephemeralPosts #litePub #pleroma
Our project wouldn't exist without everything the community, contributors and many people have done.

Thank you!

We can't wait to share many new updates that will be shipping soon 🚀

- pleroma stable release, tons of updates
- prismo has a new logo and version
- anfora has a surge of recent development
- florence gaining traction
- fedilab adds support for non-masto projects
- funkwhale hosts sync meetings to coordinate project dev
- WriteAs announces WriteAs Labs
- Spritely releases Golem demo

And lots more! #activityPub
Hey developers & ActivityPub enthusiasts!

@GetTogetherComm is a free open alternative to MeetUp.com.

The lead developer needs help with implementing federation, either coding or better documentation about ActivityPub.

There's an open issue for it here:

There's been discussion but no code contributions yet.

Can you help?

(It would be *so* cool to get this kind of service federated, imagine every town having its own instance :blobaww: )

#ActivityPub #FLOSS #FOSS
go-fed supports two kinds of #ActivityPub golang users: Those that want the library to do as much in the spec as possible (with options to override behavior), or those that want a near-completely custom solution.

Here's two diagrams for how go-fed can fit into your #golang project:
1) Mainly provide callbacks to support the AP logic particular to your app.
2) Implement the DelegateActor interface and do everything yourself.

Doing number 1 doesn't prevent switching to number 2 later.

Это ещё один проект для #ActivityPub задуманный и заточенный как агрегатор новостей. Как бы копия reddit. О других узлах пока ничего неизвестно.

Prismo is an open federated alternative to sites like Reddit or Hacker News.

It's still under development, but the first instance is online here:

It's been in closed beta for a while, but Prismo now has open sign-ups for the first time.

You can sign up at:

We are working with other projects to take ActivityPub to the next level with new features like Ephemeral Stories and Live Streaming.

It will be a great year! #activityPub
Hello, World! Would you like to see a question and answers platform like Quora/StackExchange with ActivityPub support? And if yes, then how would such a platform be beneficial to you?

if i were to hypothetically write an #activitypub library for use in both desktop clients and linux servers, would #python be a suitable option? and can i do so with minimal setup? #ProgrammingHelp
Who wants an #ActivityPub library that can compile on a Raspberry Pi?
Hey fediverse admins, have you made sure your instance is being counted by https://the-federation.info/ ? I love being able to respond with that stats site URL when people say "nobody uses federated social networks" elsewhere on the web :) It now counts nodes running any one of 36 server apps, across 9 federation protocols, including #OStatus, and #ActivityPub, reporting about 2 1/2 million users.
#ActivityPub implementors please ping me if you have not been invited to the preparation discussion for the AP round table at #FOSDEM2019

boosts appreciated. Direct invitation from people already there most appreciated :)
If #ActivityPub is the official successor of #RSS then may we please have support of RSS in #Mastodon clients?

Yeah, I know Mastodon is not fully #AP but still...

Thank you.
#Awesome list of #ActivityPub based projects
The #federated #blogging engine, #Plume, has got a fresh new website: https://joinplu.me.

It is one of the most complete #activitypub projects still in alpha stage, and looking very neat too.

Things to do to help the project:

- contribute financially
- make a translation
- launch an instance

There are already some stable and updated Plume #instances running right now: Fediverse.blog, or plume.mastodon.host, or https://plume.hostux.coffee, as well as https://plume.oa-dev.com, more soon.
#Nextcloud introduces social features, joins the fediverse https://nextcloud.com/blog/nextcloud-introduces-social-features-joins-the-fediverse/ #activitypub

Nextcloud's Frank Karlitschek was an early supporter of the ActivityPub standard and I remember well sitting across from him over coffee talking about how to get our projects to talk to each other. Excited to see Nextcloud friends join the fediverse!
Nextcloud introduces social features, joins the fediverse
I'm wondering if I made the wrong thing with #Pterotype, and I'd love some feedback.

The problem I was trying to solve was how to put WordPress content on the Fediverse, but more generally I want to put all sorts of content on the Fediverse.

I'm starting to feel like the best way to achieve that would be by making a generic #ActivityPub client & server implementation, rather than a WordPress-specific server. Then the WordPress plugin could just be a client to the server implementation.
